Today, the students of the Asahi Nihongo school had the opportunity to take part in a calligraphy class.
Calligraphy is an art that is deeply interwoven with Japanese history and culture. The perfect execution of drawing Japanese letters is much more than a writing exercise, it is meditation and relaxation for the artist.
After a short introduction to the art, the students were shown the brushes and the paper, including an explanation of what they are made of. In the following, the teacher showed brush strokes and how to transport the right amount of ink on to the paper.
Shorty after, the students were able to slowly draw characters onto the paper! Everybody had fun and learned a lot.
