In today’s interview, Lena from Germany talks about her internship at the fashion designer Quantize.
Why do you like Japan?
I always liked Japan for its language and culture – especially for the architecture and the clothes.
How do you like Fukuoka and what do you recommend other people to do in Fukuoka?
I really like it. At first I wanted to move to many different places while being in Japan but I like Fukuoka so much I decided to stay here. The people are friendly and Fukuoka’s urban atmosphere appeals more than Tokyo’s urban atmosphere. I also like the beaches here and the museums. I recommend the Kyushu Museum.
Why did you choose Asahi School?
It was recommended to me by an agency so I looked at the website and decided to give it a try.
Why have you decided to do an internship in Japan?
I always wanted to go abroad after school and I liked Japan so I ended up here.
How long is the internship and how are your working hours?
I am doing a one month internship. I usually work from Monday until Friday from 13:30h until 19:00h.
What are your main tasks at Quantize?
I sort and measure fabrics and do sewing. Furthermore I sometimes assist in events. Now we have an exhibition in Tenjin where I advise potential costumers.
What do you like most at your internship?
I like my colleagues because they are very nice to me. Furthermore I like the atmosphere of the atelier.
Were there any (cultural) problems?
Do you have any tips or recommendations for people who might want to do an internship in Japan?
Be polite and open minded.
