At the end of February, we made “Umegae Mochi” together with students and interns. Umegae Mochi is one of many famous sweets from Fukuoka and it is very delicious. It is sold especially in the city of Daizaifu.
It is very easy to make. The dough is made by mixing rice flour and water together. Then, you have to wrap Anko (sweet red bean paste) inside the dough and fry everything in sesame oil. After a few minutes, the Umegae Mochi is ready.
Our interns did a really good job with making the Umegae Mochi and everyone enjoyed the sweets very much. Besides the sweets, we also had salad and Chirashizushi (Sushi rice in a bowl and topped with fish, vegetables, eggs, and other ingredients).
All those dishes are pretty easy to make at home, so you should give it a try once.
