Nagasaki is one of the well-known cities of Kyushu and Japan, a city where different cultures have always meet each other. Because of its proximity to Fukuoka, it is a nice destination to visit.

Therefore, we would like to introduce various nice places, you should definitely visit when traveling to Nagasaki.

Despite its beautiful scenery, Nagasaki is unfortunately known especially for its role in World War II as the second Japanese city suffering from an atomic bomb drop. As a powerful reminder of this darkest hour in Nagasaki’s history and as a place to pray for world peace, Nagasaki Peace Park has been built.

The Park opened on April 1st, 1955, near the very place the atomic bomb “Fat Man” was dropped and detonated.

The park is famous for its 10 meters high Peace Statue. The statue is also seen as a Buddhist symbol. The right hand of the statue points out the threat of nuclear weapons while the left hand symbolizes peace. The almost closed eyes can be seen as a prayer for peace.

Besides the big Peace Statue, there are many smaller statues from different countries installed in the park.

The park is open all year and there is no entrance fee.
