On October 8 and 9, the Nakasu Matsuri took place.

This year celebrated the event’s 40th iteration in the Nakasu District, Fukuoka. The Nakasu Matsuri is known for its so-called Onna Mikoshi. Every year since 1987, around 500 women gather in front of Kunihiro Shrine and carry the Mikoshi, a portable shrine, through the streets of Nakasu District. The procession starts at 19:30 while a priest blessed the shrines and women before. Beside the main procession, there are Taiko performances (Japanese drums) in front of Kunihiro Shrine.

Furthermore, there are many food stalls along the streets, where visitors can enjoy local specialties ranging from Yakisoba to special meat and alcohol.

For all night owls, a bar-hopping event was organized this year. Tickets expenses were ¥3000 and everyone was able to visit three different bars.

The Nakasu Matsuri will again take place next October.
