It is time again for a new intern! Clement from France tells us about his experiences at Hiroshima Co., Ltd, a beer trading company.
Why did you choose Asahi Nihongo?
I always wanted to do an internship in Japan, especially in Fukuoka, as I have lived there before for one year. So as I found Asahi Nihongo on the internet I applied immediately for an internship.
Why did you pick this internship?
As I aim for my masters degree and plan to work in a trading company in the future, I wanted do an internship at a company which specializes on import and export of goods. That is why Hiroshima Co., Ltd. seemed to be the perfect place.
What were your tasks?
If we got any orders I had to fill out a paper with the number of orders which was sent to our warehouse. I also had to put on labels on different products. Furthermore, I did some researches for our company about popular beer products in France.
Were there any (cultural) problems you had to overcome during your internship?
There were some problems with the Japanese language, but my colleagues always helped me when there was anything I did not understand.
What did you like the most about your internship?
I really liked the working atmosphere due to my nice colleagues. The task I liked the most was the research on new products.
And how do you like Fukuoka?
Fukuoka is a very nice place. The city has the right size, is not too big, but you still have enough places to go out to. The living expenses are low and the food is very delicious as well. Furthermore, the people of Fukuoka are very relaxed and nice to everyone.
Do you have any tips or recommendations for people who might want to do an internship?
You should have a general knowledge of Japanese, as your colleagues always talk in Japanese to you. Additionally, it is good to be open-minded and ready for every task, the company might give to you.
