The Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or JLPT, is one of the most widely recognized Japanese proficiency tests that can be taken all over the world. Most companies will request a copy of your JLPT results as a standard to measure and prove your Japanese language skills.
From the beginning of May (July date) and October (December date), you have the chance to join a dedicated 8-week JLPT course for the N3, N2 and N1 level tests. The course is designed for students who already have previous knowledge of the Japanese language.
The annual application period for the JLPT is throughout the months of April (July test date) and September (December test date). You can apply either online or via mail.

The school location – easy to access, easy to explore
Asahi Nihongo is located between Akasaka and Tenjin station – a perfect spot to start your tour through Fukuoka City. This is Fukuoka’s most exciting place because the busiest areas like Tenjin, Oyafuko street, Daimyo and Imaizumi are just a short walk away. You can also easily access department stores like Parco, Iwataya and Big Camera. In the Daimyo area, you can find a lot of small and stylish shops, bars and restaurants. We recommend Oyafuko and Nishi street for Karaoke or for just having a good time.

Study Materials – Nihongo So-Matome series
We mainly use the “Shin Kanzen Master” series of textbooks as study guides. Shin Kanzen Master is a well-structured book series that covers all test sections. We use it to especially practice grammar, reading comprehension and listening comprehension with many exercises.
At first, you might feel that there are fewer explanations in these textbooks, but the layout enables you to learn the topics without having to use other languages such as English. You will do a lot of practical exercises to find out your strengths and weaknesses. After completing the exercises, you will receive explanations and suggestions from your teacher how to eliminate your weak points and increase your chances of passing your test. You are able to take additional mock exams every Saturday in June to receive your teacher’s feedback so that you have the best possible preparation.
JLPT Teaching Method
The main focus lies on reading and listening comprehension as these are the most important parts of the test. During our JLPT Preparation Course, students will learn how to find relevant information through the techniques of fast-reading and looking for keywords. Every week, there is a short test to evaluate the progress of the students and at the end of the course, there is a mock JLPT test under real conditions. Students have individual consultations with their teacher to find out sections they should improve on to pass the test successfully.
Lessons are from Monday to Friday, and we use the weekend for day trips around Fukuoka. You will receive your schedule every Friday. We try to have lessons in the morning between 9:00 and 12:15 (first group) to keep the afternoon free for activities. However, it is possible that you will have lessons in the afternoon between 13:00 and 16:15 (second group). Every Wednesday and Friday, we organize a Free Study Group from 18:00. On the first Monday of every new course, we do an Orientation and City Tour with our new students.
We are very proud to have one of the most experienced teachers who has been teaching Japanese for over 30 years at our school. Our teachers do regular simulated lessons to keep their teaching method up-to-date and to ensure that every teacher offers the same lesson quality. Meet our teachers and staff members.
