Today we had the chance to talk to another intern. Meike from Germany talks about her internship experiences at the trading company Nippon Tsusho.
Why did you decide to do an internship in Japan?
I am studying East Asian Politics and to graduate I need to do an internship. Because of my major I decided to do my internship in Japan.
How long is the internship and how are your working hours?
I am doing a 13 weeks internship. I work from Monday till Friday from 9:00h-12:00h and 13:00-17:00h.
What are your main tasks at Nippon Tsusho?
I am creating documents and infomaterials. Furthermore I am promoting products via SNS and DM.
How and why did you learn Japanese?
I studied Japanese at University and went for a five weeks trip to Mie, Kyoto and Tokyo because I like the sound of Japanese. Furthermore I studied Japanese at Asahi Nihongo to prepare for my internship.
Were there any (cultural) problems?
I still did not get used to people smoking in Izakaya and restaurants.
How do you like Fukuoka?
I really like Fukuoka because everybody is very friendly and polite.
Do you have any tips or recommendations for people who might want to do an internship?
Be open minded.
