Japan has one of the most developed transportation networks in the world. The Shinkansen is Japan’s high-speed train and it can travel at over 200 km/h, much faster than normal trains. For example, the Shinkansen can travel from Tokyo to Osaka in three hours. That is a distance of more than 550 km. Japanese often use the Shinkansen for home visits and school excursions. It can move quickly between areas, has large seating space and is very comfortable. If you come to Japan and plan on traveling to other prefectures, you really should try the Shinkansen.
